Ubud

A land immersed with viridescent vistas, Ubud is the center of local artisans, traditions, and spiritual life. 

Located in the central part of the island, Ubud is a one-hour drive away from the airport.

The city combines the vibrant Balinese culture along with tranquility, making it a perfect spot for rejuvenation. Being the center of culture, several art museums are located in Ubud such as The Blanco Renaissance Museum and Agung Rai Museum of Art just to name a few. These galleries bridge local and international artists by holding exhibitions to stimulate dialogues. Balinese dance performances are also held regularly around Ubud. 

 

Several significant temples are located nearby Ubud. Goa Gajah, also known as Bali's Elephant Cave is home to a meditational cave, bathing pools, and fountains. The site is a famous archeological site that was excavated in 1954. Taman Saraswati Temple is located in central Ubud and is a favorite amongst tourists. The water temple features classic Balinese temple architecture and a beautiful foyer filled with pink lotuses. 

 

Take a break from the vibrant city and head towards tegalalang where you can feast your eyes with an abundance of paddy fields. Tegalalang is not only famous for its scenic rice paddies but also its innovative irrigation system. Subak is a famous irrigation system that has been enlisted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site has been passed down for generations. Campuhan ridge is also another scenic site that offers visitors a walk through the pristine green hills and rice paddy fields.
